Nurture ‘n Nature Therapy™ FAQs

What Are the Benefits?

  1. Boosts Mental Health: Walking outdoors increases endorphins, which can naturally improve mood and reduce stress. Being in nature is especially helpful for calming anxiety and lifting spirits.

  2. Eases Conversation: Walking side by side can feel less intimidating than sitting face-to-face, making it easier to open up. Movement can also help you think more clearly and process emotions better.

  3. Physical and Emotional Connection: Walking provides physical benefits like exercise, which contributes to overall well-being, and this can enhance the emotional work being done in therapy.

  4. Reduces Postpartum Anxiety: For new mothers, getting out of the house for a Nurture ‘n Nature session can break feelings of isolation and help reduce anxiety.

  5. Encourages Mind-Body Connection: Walking can help bring a mindful awareness of your body, making it easier to connect your physical sensations with emotional experiences in therapy.

  6. Supports Progress: The act of moving forward physically can mirror emotional progress, symbolizing growth and the ability to overcome obstacles in your life.

  7. Improves Sleep and Energy: Regular walks can improve sleep and increase energy levels, both of which are crucial for mental health, especially during life transitions like motherhood.

Are These Sessions Offered Year-Round?

  • Outdoor Sessions: Yes! Nature ‘n Nurture sessions are scheduled outdoors year-round, as long as the weather allows and you are comfortable.

  • Backup Options: If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll switch to a virtual or in-office session, so you’re never left without support.

Can I bring a stroller or carrier for my baby during the session?

Absolutely! You're welcome to bring a stroller or baby carrier to make the walk more comfortable for both you and your baby. The session is flexible, so whether you prefer to walk with your baby in a stroller, carry them, or alternate between the two, we'll adapt the pace and route to suit your needs.

Do Sessions Qualify for Out-of-Network Reimbursement?

  • Insurance: I am not an in-network provider, and Nurture ‘n Nature therapy typically isn’t covered by insurance.

  • Out-of-Network: If you're using out-of-network benefits for virtual sessions, check with your insurance about telehealth reimbursement.

  • Good Faith Estimate: Refer to the Good Faith Estimate document for your rights as a self-pay patient. Keep in mind that a mental health diagnosis is required for insurance reimbursement.
