Perinatal Counseling
Therapy during pregnancy and into motherhood in Coeur d'Alene, ID
It can be hard to talk about how you're feeling, but that's why I'm here. Many women go through postpartum struggles, not just right after birth, but even during pregnancy and throughout the first year. The adjustment to motherhood is a huge change, and it’s okay if you don’t fit the typical "mom" mold.

You get to decide what motherhood means for you, and you don’t have to figure it out alone.
Perinatal Counseling FAQs
Am I a good fit?
You’ve just had a baby, and while you might expect to feel overjoyed, it’s completely normal if you’re feeling sad, overwhelmed, or frustrated instead. Your feelings are valid, and it’s okay not to feel happy all the time. In fact, these emotions are more common than people often admit. Many new moms experience the "baby blues," which are caused by hormonal changes that can lead to anxiety, crying, and restlessness. These usually fade within the first two weeks after giving birth. However, for some, these feelings can develop into something more serious than a mild case of the blues.
Therapy's Impact: Counseling can be a game-changer for anyone. Imagine having 50 minutes to talk and be truly heard without judgment.
Supportive Listening: Therapy is about feeling supported by someone who understands your challenges, especially in perinatal mental health. Having a therapist with specialized experience can make all the difference.
Trial and Adjust: Like any positive life change, give it a try! If it works, fantastic. If not, you can always adjust and find what works better for you.
What can I expect for the first session?
Initial Assessment: In our first session, we'll spend time getting to know each other. I’ll ask questions about your background, current challenges, and goals for therapy.
Building Trust: It’s important for you to feel comfortable and understood. The first session is a safe space to share as much or as little as you feel ready to.
Next Steps: We’ll also discuss the best approach for future sessions and decide on a plan that feels right for you. This session is all about understanding where you are and how I can best support you moving forward.
